Why Most RCFE Owners Wait Too Long to Sell | California RCFE Seller Guide
Episode published August 20, 2026
Exit planning does not require a decision to sell today. Starting early simply gives an owner more time to understand options, organize information, and decide what matters before health, staffing, business, or personal circumstances create pressure.
Separate planning from commitment
An owner can learn about sale structures, possible timelines, and preparation steps without promising to proceed. Begin by documenting goals, the role you want after a transition, concerns about employees and residents, and whether the building should be part of the decision.
Build readiness gradually
Review financial reporting, staffing, licensing records, property needs, and operational dependencies with appropriate professionals. Identify issues that may take time to resolve. Planning earlier does not predict value or guarantee a buyer; it can help preserve choices and allow more deliberate decisions.
